14 Sep State Ballot Measure Monthly: September 2023

There were 41 ballot measures certified in eight states for the 2023 elections, the highest since 2007.  Some significant measures included Ohio voters to decide on abortion rights and marijuana legalization. Nebraska’s veto referendum sought the repeal of legislation allowing tax credits for private school scholarships. California Governor Newsom signed AB 421, changing the language of veto referendums, replacing ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ with ‘Keep the law’ and ‘Overturn the law’.
